Commenting on the prospect of a YES vote and its consequences, Toni Giugliano, Leader of the campaign network has warned that if Dublin approves, the Treaty will have to come into force.
“If the people of Ireland approve this treaty on October 2nd then we have it. It will be up to the Czech and Polish Presidents to do what is responsible and sign off the Treaty, considering that both their houses of Parliaments have given their green light.”Under absolutely no circumstances can the European Union sit in limbo over this Treaty. Europe has been waiting for treaty reform since 2004, and if the only people of Europe to directly express themselves on Lisbon say yes, then there is no reason for further delays.
Under absolutely no circumstances can the European Union sit in limbo over this Treaty.
“It would be utterly farcical to think that President Klaus could delay the signing of Lisbon to give David Cameron a chance of winning power in Britain. This kind of politics doesn’t wash, and it certainly doesn’t respect the peoples of Europe.”Any such move to delay the Treaty should be avoided, and it would be an opportunity for some of Europe’s more responsible leaders to show some real leadership on the European front.
"As far as Britain is concerned, the issue is clear. The UK has fully ratified the document and the matter is over. If Cameron ever gets elected he will learn that speaking as opposition leader and speaking as Prime Minister is never the same thing.
