David Cameron’s EU negotiation – just part of a bigger nationalist picture
It seems to me that many people in Europe are - understandably - confused about what exactly David Cameron wants from the EU. It may be helpful to explain that the UK Conservatives have been engaging in a series of bizarre and arbitrary attacks on anything « foreign ». As such, Cameron’s referendum on European Union membership is not a straightforward expression of British dissatisfaction with the EU, but rather one of many policies and actions which reflect the Conservatives’ increasing appeal to British nationalism to win them votes.
